Working at a store like PetSmart means that (in addition to seeing customers who won't listen and
co-workers who don't know what they're talking about, sadly) I see all of the betta fishes. All of the time. If I actually worked the fish wall I think I'd not have a spare space left anywhere. I shouldn't have as many fish as I do >.< But each of them caught my eye and called to me so... I became a betta-person.
^-- This is Diamond, my halfmoon who was actually sick when I got him back in March with a matching set of sores. Proper care saw those heal and now he's an absolute delight who loves to have staring contests with me, his dragon figurine and his snail.
^-- Amethyst... was a confusion for me. When I first picked this one out he was in a female cup and a lot smaller. But then I started to wonder because when he flared it was a full-on beard, there was no egg-spot and then his fins started growing out and he started blowing nests. I've had him for as long as Diamond and am now 75% certain he's a Veiltail male.
^-- Sapphire Illusion; a halfmoon plakat so named because he likes to shift colors on me. He is an insane bubblenest builder who has not gone more than a day in over a month without having one in his tank. He's the most aggressive out of them who will flare at absolutely everything at least once.
^-- Marble-Jade is my little marbled halfmoon plakat who won't hold still for a picture. At all. Ever. Second he sees me he's flashing himself all over the tank, gaping his mouth and then zooming off to linger under his newest bubblenest. He's secretly my favorite because he plays games with the little plastic jewels on the bottom of his tank.
^-- My newest boy, Jasper Steel the plakat, who I've had for two weeks now. He was also sick when he got to the store, but he still had all sorts of spirit in his little cup so I got him and he's now extremely active.
