Super Happy Betta Mom

I have kinda neglected to pay much attention to my fish this week due to being so busy with finals and work however it hasn't seemed to bother my favorite finned friend. My little guy Rufio has just made his first bubble nest! this is the first betta that I have ever had that has made a bubble nest. I have had some bad luck with bettas lately however it seems to me like I'm finally doing it right! Yeah!

This picture was even taken after the 1/2 water change I just did so he built it really well. It was much bigger before.

Looks like my good luck has already ran out. After doing his water change and rejoicing in my finned friends apparent happiness I noticed that there was a BIG CHUNK MISSING from his caudal fin. Here is the link to my post in betta emergencies. *warning* it is picture loaded.

sorry to hear that, i hear conditioner helps it grow and maybe some salt will also do to keep it from not getting infected

Well I guess he is still happy despite his fin loss because he just built a new bubble nest.

Unless they are sick, bettas don't seem to be aware of fin loss as much as we are.

just keep the tank clean and free from bad bacteria, i have a VT that got a huge fin torn (he is in healing stage) and somehow it got infected (i think it was the tank) and got really nasty, so i gave him highly medicated water (2 salts {not alot}, ick attack, and conditioner) and he is being more active and healthy :)

Building a Bubblenest doesn't necessarily mean he's happy. It's more of a instinct to them. It's just when they have marked their territory, and for mating, and other things. It also means that they are quite comfortable in their home. Besides this, Good Luck with the Fin Loss!!! The Best Cure is Very Clean Water & a Temperature Range of 76F-80F. You can add Aquarium Salt if you want to.
