hello everyone im new to this i recently got into fish i bought 2 baby female bettas today and put them together but i have a few questions/concerns...

is it okay i pput these 2 together

one is just sitting at the bottom what could be causing this(they havent be fighting at all)

what is the best setup for them

also is it normal that they chase eachother a little bit

Hi ttubs, welcome to the forum.

Females can be kept together BUT it's best to have 4 or more because, like males, females also becomes aggressive. More females would distribute the aggression. Having only 2 would mean constant bullying.

Use plants and other hiding places. When ever one gets bullied, she could run and hide.

It's hard to say why they're acting the way they are. It can be from stress and they only need time to adjust. But it can also mean they're not healthy. How are they eating - they should eat like pigs.. LOL

there eating just like my adult betta does lol i have a plant and they havent actually faught i would have bought 2 but i couldnt decide one is a veiltail red with a lttle white on its sides and then i have a crowntail thats body is all white with red fins and tail

what would be an appropriate tank for 4 of them?

For a sorority, at least a 10 gallon. You'll want plenty of plants and hiding spots for them as well.

I just want to make something clear, did you buy two females that are little or two baby Bettas? Because the "Baby" Bettas are still unsexable, baby males look like females.

there not babys but there not full grown

i thought maybe buying younger ones would make it easier for them to be put together

Okay, i was just making sure you didn't buy two "Baby" Bettas like from PetCo and put them together thinking they were both female lol.

Just make sure your tank is heavily planted with lots and lots of hiding places. Watch them and make sure no one gets into any serious fights- slapping and occasional nipping is okay but if there is anything more serious you'll want to separate them and redecorate their tank add more places to hide.

I don't think females are less aggressive, I just think they have a higher tolerance level of other fish then the males do lol.

No, you should be fine for now, just make sure as soon as you can to get a bunch of decor for your tank :)
