Filter Cartridge Is Green

I've noticed that the filter cartridge in my betta tank is really green. Does someone know what this means? The fish seems perfectly happy.

Probably just algae picked up by the filter. Mine is greenish brown as well.

Is that good or bad for the fish? I don't have any live plants or anything in there so I'm a little confused by the whole thing...

its fineee, just watch for algae outbreaks, this usually happens before/during/after, but domeimes it just is.. can u add pics?

and if no outbreak, it helps oxygenate th ewater and algae eats amonia! (and poops out no nitrite/natrate)

I will work on adding pics...

In the mean time, what happens if I do see an algae outbreak?

Cool

Algae "bloom", is usually caused by having a lot of food for Algae. That equates to high nitrates which can be bad for Betta's.

Water Change = good.

yes, plenty of water changes, and LIVE PLANTS, they do miracles :D

they compete with algae for food and co2 best for greenwater, for other algae, theres always scrape it off, lol

Thanks all...

I do regular water changes, so that is good. Do I need to change the filter cartridge more often?

Also, is algae always clearly visible in a tank? I don't see anything suspicious other than when I left the lid and see the green on the filter cartridge...I just want to make sure I know what I'm dealing with!
