Unhappy Please help me....

I have changed the water.
I have tried medicine.
I have a filter for my aquarium...
I do not understand why my beloved fish looks so ill. I'm so worried... can anyone tell me of any solution I can use to save him?
His fins are raggedy and are beginning to grow short.Under his head and around his gils.. the color is turning silver. His body is turning pale. Near his fins, the color that had been previously a dark blue is now turning into a rusty brown.
Is it a fungal infection?
Is it fin rot?

Why isn't anything working for my friend?
( The picture isn't good.. but please try to diagnose him)

Nasty bacterial infection. What meds do you use? Wimpy pet store antibiotics won't do anything.

Look at him from above. Are his scales sticking out like a pine cone?

Well then you're lucky for now.

What medications are you using?

If you can find it, Seachem Kanaplex is the best but it's hard to find in store and often has to be ordered online. For now, put him into 3 tsps of epsom salt per gallon. If you can't find Kanaplex, try API Furan-2.

And welcome to the forum, doglover. :)

BettaFix does nothing unless its small fin tears. This is a bacterial issue.

Kanaplex is good. I recently lost about 10 fish from hexamita (nasty internal bacterial infection that kills before you know what hit your fish). I'm using Nitrofuracin and Metronidazole to treat it. API Furan 2 contains Nitrofuracin I believe.

IMO every fish keeper should have some tough antibiotics on hand.

Ugh. Hexamita are the same parasite that cause hole-in-the-head disease in larger fish like cichlids. Nasty buggers.

Strong antibiotics can be hard to come by but if you can get them, they are definitely better than those available in Petsmart/Petco.
