Wednesday DIY

So I'm not a person who enjoys the sun... unusual, I know. Specially considering I grew up in a tropical island

The window in my living room faces West and with the longer summer days ahead, I'm looking at 8-10 hours of direct sunlight and for my apartment to turn into an oven. UGH!

I had drapes but they were not enough to block out the sun. I tried placing window film (used on cars) to cover the glass but it just became a mess that I ended up having peel off and clean glue residue that it left behind.

Then I came across this awesome blog: http://manhattan-nest.com/2010/06/01/the-doors/ and I started plotting.

Window is now finished! It blocks an impressive amount of light... and my view of I-5.
Best of all? It's completely removable and will not damage the window or leave glue reside

I will be keeping the drapes because they will block ALL the light when closed. Total project cost: $6.99 plus tax
