I need a quick answer

I didn't realize I didn't know the answer to this question and feel kind of embarrassed to ask but

Since I just got Portal Prime today, is it alright to turn out the tank light for tonight? Or should I wait until tomorrow?

He's a betta, right? if you just got him, some quite time will do him good. Alot of people will keep the betta in darkness when they first get them, especially if the fish was shipped to them - it helps them relax a bit. Just like humans, they need daylight and night time too.
