When you think about it, the original Peter Pan was kind of gruesome. All those little boys killing pirates and Indians.

Lord of the Flies was very interesting and raised the question if put into a situation would people scatter or act as a autonomous collective. Personally I think the latter as people would tend to revert to instinct where the group becomes more important than the individual due to the necessity of counting on others for survival.

I never really read animal farm though, I don't know why?

Bomba, True, he did.

Has anyone ever read the original Mary Poppins?

thekinetic, the premise of the story is interesting. It's just the idealist in me hates some elements of the story. In reality, kids are just as brutal as adults when they have to be so to escape the harsh reality, I like to read books where at least the kids don't kill or resort to brutal behavior.

I've read three of the original Mary Poppins! She's a bit different from Julie Andrews, that's for sure. :p

Anyone read the original 101 Dalmations?

Haha, she is, isn't she? Not very warm and fuzzy, that's for sure.

I love the original 101 Dalmatians. She wrote a sequel too, called Starlight Barking. I haven't read that yet. And then there's the original Bambi.
