How old is Buddha...?

I noticed that since I've had Buddha, his face has been a little paler than the rest of his body. I've seen what a Royal Blue veiltail looks like, but in the light, Buddha's face is a grey, not so much black. Buddha is older than the betta my friend got at the same time (because hers looked like a female at the time but is now full grown), and I was wondering if there is a specific way to tell.

He is pretty shy so I can't tell exactly how active he is because he likes to cower in the dark/under his "toys." He also doesn't like to jump for food or poke the pingpong ball.

He's not lethargic because he does swim around often, and he doesn't sleep until around night time (when the light goes off).

I just think, he might be a bit older haha

When did you get him? We'll say most bettas sold on shelves asides from baby bettas are about a year old. Then when you buy them, add onto that.

I got him 4 months ago, and I got him from a pet store near campus. He was kept in a small cup in all his poop, and he was fullgrown at that time.

So, I guess Buddha is around 1 year 4 months then x3
