Betta in a 29g ?

as some of you may no i may be getting a bigger tank about 29 or 28 g. is it ok to put my betta in there i have an 8g but i want to keep that open for breeding and keeping any sick fish?

That will work provided you put compatible fish in the tank with him.

im not sure actually i was going to wait until i get it in my 8g currently i have a mickey mouse platy and a swordtail and there is 13 swordtail fry and 3 mickey mouse platy fry so im hoping to keep 3 female swordtail from the fry and any females from the mickey mouse fry, and then buy 1 more male swordtail and 1 male platy, i would love to have some different fish apart from live bearers and i would have loved to have some dwarf gouramis but discovered that the betta and gouramis would fight because they both stay at the top of the tank

ohh wait ill just edit this in sorry i heard that male swordtails can pick on bettas so thats why i might just keep 1 male swordtail or two, and i have 3 plecos (they are still small and ill rehome them when they start to grow out the tank), i was thinking of some otos aswell

My swords never fought with my betta. better safe than sorry though.

I don't see any problem with the fish you've picked. You were right to decide against the gouramis. Sounds like it'll be a ncie little tank.

I don't see why you shouldn't get otos. Just remember they are quite delicate and need a supply of algae to eat. Many will eat nothing else.

Some tetras are Ok with bettas. Any type that wn't nip should be fine.

To supply algae constantly, get a few white rocks and place them in a bucket of water. Place the bucket of water under direct sunlight and place a pinch of fishfood in it. There should be algae coating on rocks in a few days. Alternate the use of rocks so you can have constant supply of algae.:)
