Caught in filter!

Last night during the night, in my sorority tank, the screen on my filter intake tube somehow fell off and the filter sucked up three of my seven girls. When I went to feed them early this morning, two were dead.

The surviving one has had most of her fins torn off with just a few rays remaining. She still has her pectorals and can limp around just enough to go to the surface for air.

I have cupped her with a piece of IAL and she's floating in the big tank so she can see the others still. Should I use aq salt or just keep her water clean so she can heal?

I would use a bit of stress coat and some AQ salt for a few days.

I just found a fourth girl in the filter, so I only have three of the seven left, one in a cup. I'm going to have to get more females... also I will get some aq salt and maybe stress coat (I have read that water conditioners work as a stress coat too.) My injured girl is surprisingly active and her colour is starting to come back.

Unfortunately my injured fish just passed away. I guess the injuries were too much for her. It looked like she suffered from an internal hemorrhage - I could see the blood inside her belly. ;-;

The big thing I have learned here is to make sure ALL my filter intakes are covered with pantyhose and securely attached to the filter, every time I clean my tanks.

I personally just use stress coat its thicker than most water conditioners plus if you bought that it would be your water conditioner, a while back two of my girls got in a bad fight and aq salt and stress coat really re-grew their fins
