EXTREME Bloat

THIS IS NOT MY FISH. This is my friends co-workers fish. She offered my assistance, so now I have to attempt to heal him.

He is a really pretty boy, just extremely bloated. I saw him at the petstore a week ago like this and while I was there, I saw one of my friend's co-workers. I guess she saw me buy sick fish and make them better quite a lot, so she decided to buy this guy. Unfortunately, he looks even more bloated than before~ He DOES NOT have dropsy from what I can tell. No pineconing.

He currently resides in a 3 gallon tank, with 3 tsp of Epsom Salt and with the temperature at 85 degrees.

I just wanted to double check with you guys to see if I am doing everything right/see if I need to change anything.

I think fasting him might help as well. But he could have something parasitic going on in his body.

Only saying that because I've never seen a betta that bloated before...

Oh my O: I wonder if I should perhaps add some AQSalt. I am gonna wait for more people to respond though xD

You would have to feed him medicated pellets since it's on the inside, and AQ salt doesn't treat the inside...

OFL would know what to do for sure!

Alright, so, the stores around me don't sell anything on the list of medications to buy for Betta's for internal parasites, anyone else know of a different medication????

Pet store should have tetra parasite guard. I'm about to give it a shot in 10 minutes.

He has internal parasites.. bad. Can try food with metronidazole. Or get some and soak some blood worms in it for 30 min then feed. Probably gonna loose him.

There is a few reasons that he can be bloated.
Overfeeding or internal parasites.
How many pellets or how much flakes she was feeding him?
With internal parasites he will have white,clear stringy, wormy shape poop.
Did you see his poop?

If he bloated from overfeeding than you need to fast him for a few days and if it not helps than Epsom salt will. Not aquarium salt though.

If it internal parasites. You need medications. Make sure in the medications if you can find for internal parasites not for external.
If he can eat medicated food like someone wrote. There is anti parasite food. Unfortunately don't know brand .

Now if you will sure it internal parasites you can definitely start him on Epsom salt . Not it will help with bloating and clean his system. But Epsom salt without medications won't treat it.

For Epsom salt you can start from2 tsp/gall. Pre mix it in the one gall jug for the right dosage. Make changes every 24 hrs.
Not sure how big is his tank. You can qt him in smaller container or just lower the water in the tank so you can do daily water changes.

How long he is bloated like that?
Are you still feeding him? How much?
I hope he bloated from the food .
Internal parasites very difficult to get rid off. But it always good if fish eating it helps to pass parasites out..

EDIT: When you do water changes with salt you need to do 100% water change

Just read what you wrote again. He is in 3 gall tank. You really don't need 85*.Some bettas get stressed with warmer temperature.
When you treat external parasites you need 85-86* to speed up the cycle of the parasites. But with internal you don't really need 85*. So you can lower it but gradually approx 1* every hour.

Also don't share anything between him and your other fish until you really find out what wrong with him.

Hello!

I told her to feed him 5 pellets twice a day. Once in the morning, once at night. But I am not sure if she was doing this or not, since I don't really know her all that well xDD

Yes, I see his poop, but its not white. All I know is that it doesn't look like my other betta's poop D:

Ah yes, I have already fasted him for a day so far, he has such an appetite, he freaks out when he sees me feeding the others, poor guy.

I will have to go to a different pet store to look for them, I couldn't find any at my Petsmart D: And no one around me sells medicated food unfortunately :/

Alright! I will have to do that :) So far, I have been changing it 100% every day~

Well, she has had him for a week like this D: And when I saw him at the pet store before she bought him, he was like that, but not as bloated.

Right now, he is not eating anything. I fed him a bit of Daphnia the day I got him, that's when he started to poop as well, because she said he wasn't.
