Question Constipation

What are things that are good for it? One of my bettas has it bad. I gave him a pea and it helped him a little.

Epsom Salt and Daphnia

Daphnia is a natural laxative, it is also a live food, you can probably find it in your freezer section of your local pet store.

Epsom salt you can find at any pharmacy or major store. IE: Walmart
Be sure to get the unscented and no added colors or dyes.

epsom salt is a mild muscle relaxer and can be used to treat constipation...

I believe the dose is 1 teaspoon per gallon. When I've treated my goldfish, I dissolve it in a little dechlorinated water first, then pour it in a little at a time over an hour or so. I don't know if adding it slowly is necessary, but it makes me feel better lol.

Some keepers, myself included, feel that epsom salt treatment is only for severe bloat and should be used in a quarantine tank. Use it only if frozen daphnia or frozen brine shrimp have proven ineffective.
