Taking photos to your aquarium and betta

I'm starting this thread for we could start talking about tips and tricks for making good pictures of our tank and betta. What do you suggest? When to make them? Find the right spot, right angle. All you can tell us about taking photos of your tank.

I will start with a tip that i think it's a good one: take photos at night and turn on only the neon.

I've started using my tripod to take pictures of my tanks. It holds the camera more still than I can. So far I've gotten really good results with it. I also find it helps to feed my fish right before I start taking pictures. They tend to hold still when I do. Using a combination of tripod and feeding I've been able to get pretty good pictures of all of my tanks.

@thekoimaiden: That's a good tip. I wonder if it would be a good ideea to feed them, then after they are full, maybe they will not move that fast(they are more relaxed after eating i guess). Think i should try!

From what I previously read..get them in Natural light..Sunshine..a lil for a few mins..and in a clear tank..and a good camera..flash will not work..it makes too many bright spots..get them to flare and snap without flash..and yu got it:)

Pretty obvious but, phones are lousy cameras lol (as you can see in my avi)

I have to invest in a tripod:) and a Nikon camera ihear those are the ones that give yu the profezsioal looking photos

I stole someone's idea of using a mini magnifying glass on my cell camera. So far they've turned out pretty good on Flickr :3

Phone cameras just depend on the phone. I've gotten some really good pics...well *I* thought they were really good ones at least .... with my iphone. It's the 4S with the nicish lens.

It also helps if your betta is a showoff. I have one camera hound, two that don't care, and one shy one.

I also have a nice digital SLR, and while I've gotten some really crystal clear shots by being patient and going to manual focus, they are more of a pain to deal with by simple virtue of it not being an internet aware device

I agree on the natural light though, I liked the ones I took with some good filtered afternoon sunlight the best.

My favorite tip is only feasible with digital cameras.

Take lots of pictures and delete mercilessly. One or three good shots out of a hundred is a good average for me.
