Hello!

New here and new to the betta community (and fish in general)!

I'm Nicole, 25, and mom to one 3 year old little girl. About two weeks ago I decided to get my daughter a fish as a potty training present, she loves fish and dinosaurs, I couldn't really buy her a T-Rex...so, fish it was. I was hesitant in doing so because for Xmas I bought her a goldfish, well...it didn't even last a day.
We brought Gillyweed (I'm a big Harry Potter fan and I just needed to name him something related to it) and I quickly became obsessed ~ my daughter was interested for a few hours but you couldn't drag me away from his tank!

Anyway, Gillyweed (aka Mr. Fishy by my daughter) is a beautiful deep red and purple-blue male veil tail and I love it - I can definitely see why people love them!
I also have 3 daschunds (for awhile we had 9 total after my Doxie girl had her pups - scary time) and yeah...that's about it.

Looking forward to getting to know y'all and more about bettas!

Hi, welcome to the forum!

My my niece loves fish too, we bought her a 10gal aquarium and some fish she picked out (a molly, a platy, and two tetra) and she is just fascinated by them. Of course being a once fan of aquariums, I bought one too. And of course I went with a betta (Jabberjaw).

I like the name Gillyweed it's cute for a fish, and I'm also a fan of harry potter; yeah kind silly being 29 and having the entire series but hey a good book is a good book.

Have fun!

Hi Nicole, welcome to the forum.
Haha, it's your betta now.... Beware of the betta bug. You'll soon have more you can handle.
