Greying betta?

So I noticed Buddha's head has been fading since I got him. It was a full on black when I first got him a few months ago, but now he seems to be greying.

Is he getting old? :(

I was told already that people usually state a Betta is a year old at the time of purchase from a pet store, especially if it's full grown, so that would make Buddha 1 year and 4 months old.

He's a royal blue, so his head should be dark...

how warm is the water? Is there any sort of fluffy looking groth on his head?

I would post in the disease section. I find that for some reason at night after it has been dark in the room and I turn the lights on in my room they are a little pale and grey. Then in the morning they are all bright and pretty again.
