Not Ick/Ich, What could it be?

Hi, I have a red Veil Tail Betta. I noticed some tiny white spots on his fins last Monday. They look like fine grains of salt or sugar, very small.

He's been in a .5 gal quarantine tank since Wed. Salt treatment since then.

His home Details:
10 gal tank
82 F
Aquaclear 20 Filter
Tank set up 6 weeks ago
Clear bottom, no gravel, has 3 rocks with concave bottoms as caves
2 Ghost Shrimp, 2 Rasbora, 3 ADF, 2 Bristlenose Pleco's
Using Prime no other additives.
Water is Am 0, Nitrites 0, Nitrate 5

He has never flashed, not rubbed himself against the rocks or anything. Does not rub himself on the QT. Just kind of sits around, probably wondering where all his buddies are.
None of the other fish have any white spots on them.
Good appetite, eats some flakes and some frozen bloodworms.
He is NOT happy in this QT, sulking, but not too unhappy, cruises around the top getting air and checking stuff out.

Read that Ich often misdiagnosed. I do not want to throw of bunch of meds in his QT and treat him for something he might not even have.

He's got little white spots but no other behaviour or symptoms.
I'm stumped and hope you can help me.
Thanks, TonyMar
My first post, long time reader, great forum.
A few of the spots you see are on the glass but you can see the other spots on him. Thanks again.

It does look like ich to me... I've had a betta who didn't dart, or rub them off. He sat there, sulking, eventually getting clamped. I up'd the temperature, because it speeds the life cycle up. I've also seen some bettas act like there is nothing wrong...

Ich attacks a compromised host - the other fish may not be stressed or compromised.

Thanks Sena

Hi Sena, Thanks very much for sharing you experience. Your reply is good for me to know and I will go forward. Put a heater in the QT and am keeping it at 88 F. Will continue the salt treatment until the dots are gone. The other fish in the 10 gal all seem fine so that's good. Thanks again, always good to get help from someone with experience.
Much appreciated,
Tony

No problem. Remember to continue treatment a few days after they are gone to make absolutely sure!!!
