How much flaring is too much flaring?

I ask because I came home the other day and went into my room, with all the lights out except my tank lights. I went over to Versace's tank and realized he was not only flaring at his reflection, but biting at it and throwing himself at it as well! I'm scared he's going to get stressed and bite his beautiful HM tail. The odd thing is, if I turn the lights on or just my bedside lamp, he stops immediately. Since this occurrence, it has happened several more times, all with the main lights out.

So my question is, can I never leave my fish in the dark? This is rough if I go to work and turn my lights out, minus the tank lights, to conserve energy. Is he flaring too much? How much is too much flaring? The little guy is just so aggressive...

Well think about it like this, when tank light is the only one on its like a mirror room.. When you turn light outside it stops that. Leaving the room light alone won't give the plants the light they need..
Leaving a betta in a mirror room for long is bad..

Sorry about my half broken typing I'm just half asleep..

But to answer the question.. No, you cant..

I got a small 5-6w lamp for that cases, its above the aquariums in a angle that it hits all of them with light.. it Nullifies the mirror effect but still saves energy compared to normal ones..

Down side it takes some measuring to get the light right.. and drilling it into the wall :P

All right, thank you for answering my question!

No worries, it's 3:30 here and I'm exhausted as well.
