My Betta Doesn't Flare?

So I've had a male betta before who would flare his gills(?) out every now and then especially when I dropped something or made a loud noise but my new family member is a male betta as well but he hasn't flared since I bought him. Is that okay? Is something wrong with him?

I'm not really sure... But maybe you just got a really relaxed betta? Does it look like there is anything wrong with him?

Nothing seems to be wrong with him, he's in a roomy tank with a heater and nice filter. He swims around a lot but then he rests too so he's not a spaz or anything. He eats normally and appears all around healthy.

But about the relaxed thing, I guess that's possible I've just never heard of a male betta not being aggressive or flaring but he seems very chill :P

How small is he? I've read that juvenile bettas don't flare nearly as much as adult bettas. This could be the reason why?

He's normal size I think. Here he is:

He's a nice healthy looking guy and in the first picture it looks like he's been working on a bubble nest. I would not worry about him.

I wouldnt worry. My betta didnt flare for a while and actually only started full flares yesturday! Im sure his time will come. He looks pretty small, but healthy, so im sure he will flare more and more as he grows up.
