Betta really fat on one side?

I noticed this about a week ago that my red betta has a big lump on his side and on the other side its only slight. I think its his stomach but only being fat on one side and barely the other?

I tried not feeding him for a few days and I think its going down slowly, can anyone help me?

My tank is 2.5 gallons, filtered, heated at 80 degrees.

I feed him 3-5 pellets of Aqueon betta food everyday except Sunday. Also every once in a while freeze dried bloodworms and Nutrafin Max.

He is still very active as usual and there is no sign of pain.

I wouldn't worry yet, it sounds to me like he's having an issue with his swim bladder, which is caused by overeating. Especially since not feeding him has caused it to go down, that is most likely what it is!!

I followed the instructions on the packet too and my male betta started looking pregnant and losing balance. I read up that swim bladder is very common, and as long as you feed them less they'll be okay.

If you're betta is a red veiltail (which it looks like it very much could be!) like mine, you are feeding him WAY too much. Give him 2 pellets on most days and 3 MAX. Also, from what I've read as much as they love bloodworms, they can cause parasites, and I know my veiltail just loves his pellets, so for preventative purposes, I would maybe just stick with pellets.

Also, maybe consider taking the circles off the pictures. It makes it very hard to see the bump clearly.
