Aww...sorry to hear it. He was a handsome fellow. Your new guy is quite a character, though!

My walmart had a double-tailed female last week. I wanted her, but DH said she was too dark for our tank. Sigh.

In the long run, that's probably fine since we've had very mixed luck with Walmart fish. Our fist, a male, was fine. Our second and third, females, split evenly with one fine and one dead within 2 days. Our fourth is currently battling ich. We've only had her 5 days. Sigh.

So sorry for your losS!

And congrats on the new blue one! I'd guess female, but I can' see the ovipositor. She's pretty, though!!!

Wow, I don't think I'll ever get a betta from Walmart after these stories.

My Petco near me actually often has a lot of variety of bettas .. they have veiltails, doubletails, crowntails, deltas, halfmoons, halfmoon doubletails, plakats, "Kings" (is that the same as Giant?), females, males, and babies. All the time. And I have seen some crappy looking ones but also a lot of really interesting looking colors and some that look pretty lively. I have 3 from there and they are all doing very well.

BTW ShadowCourtGirl, sorry about your dead fishy and Congratulations on your consolation fishy - it is very very pretty. :)
