A jumper this morning...

I got up to go to work today. I checked all my fish like I usually do before work and they were all hanging out like they usually do, and when I got home I found one of my guys on the floor dead and all dried up. He must have jumped out right after I left. Don't understand. None of the other fish ever jump out

I've never had any problems with my fish jumping out of their tanks. They'll jump for food, though. I'm sorry it happened to you.

So sorry! I had one guy do that, though I was lucky enough to be home when it happened. They are active little guys, and not always to their benefit.

Yeah it's okay. I just hate knowing he died like that. Hopefully it was quick so he didn't suffer.

Aw, sorry for your loss. Feather likes to be hand-fed. He does NOT prefer jumping.

I'm sorry to hear you lost one like that. I've had a few jumpers. Luckily I've been there each time they did. One even got out through a hole in the tank. I've started using plastic craft mesh to cover all holes in the tank. Hope this doesn't happen to you again.

Ooh, I'm so sorry for you! I've had jumpers before...I've managed to get to them in time, but I had a friend who wasn't so lucky. :( You've already had craft mesh rec'd, and that works great. If you have a smaller tank, you can also take fabric mesh and a length of elastic and secure it around the top of the tank, that'll prevent them from escaping as well if you can't find the craft mesh. Again though, I'm so sorry for you, people don't realize how sad it can be when you lose a fish. They may be tiny, but they're still pets! :(
