Emergency! Buddha is sick :(

Buddha is sick, or something, and I don't know what to do.

I believe he has fin melt/rot of some level, except it popped suddenly only a few hours ago. The ends of his fins are turning red/black and fraying.

Here it is.
http://i49.tinypic.com/inhh4z.jpg

Normally his fins are very rounded, with the smallest jagged edge, as seen here
http://www.bettafish.com/picture.php...ictureid=24899

So, thinking it was fin melt/rot I did a tank change with AQ salt, which should help with both that AND his fin tear (which is healing nicely).

However, after an hour after changing, I noticed that he's clamped. i gave him a mirror and he flared like normal, but as soon as he calmed down, he clamped up again. He started diving into the gravel and tank surfing rapidly.

I have a video of what he was doing:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v46Qe...1&feature=plcp

I left him alone and watched him, and he's still clamped, but he's resting on the gravel. he comes up for air, but he rapidly swims up and almost gasps for air (he takes in a few huge breaths), and then sinks back down.

I'm so afraid...did something happen? He doesn't look any different than usual besides his fins..help? :(

all I have at my disposal for treatments is AQ salt, and a small kritter keeper tank if I need it for other purposes...I don't know, I'm kinda scared

I would not be able to tell ya waht could be wrong.. but I hope your fishy is ok..to me he seems fine..(not an expert in this at all..sorry;(

This may seem like a silly question - but did you forget your dechlorinator last water chanhge? I've seen other threads like this, when that has been the case. Happens to the best of us.

If not, then have your tried 100% water change, in case it's something in the water irritating him? All tanks have the occasional ammonia spike. Red/fins shriveling can be ammonia issues. A 50-100% change might make a difference.

I used the conditioner for the last few cleanings I did, so I hope that's not it :<

He does have ammonia burns on his fins...
Oh dear :(

I feel bad because he seemed so upset from the cleaning I just did today.

Try another water change if he's really acting distresed, it can't hurt him to have more clean water. Something this sudden and his distressed behaviour .. I'd make a 100% per change and then investigate causes, just in case it's the water..

I'll definitely do another change tomorrow.

And if nothing changes or if he gets worse, I'll definitely PM Old Fish Lady.

He's sleeping right now, so I have to wait til tomorrow
