new 5gal Npt

So I have a 5 gal that is housing some balloon molly fry that are 2 weeks old. And I decided to make this tank a NPT soil based tank with gravel/stone cap. All these plants are clippings from my 10 galplanted tank. There is a heater and the lights are 6500k but no filter as I ran out of aquarium sponge so at the moment I couldnt make a sponge filter. So anyways enjoy

Plants are

Cabomba red and purple rooted
Anacharis rooted and floating
Floating java fern
Apparently I have duckweed? oh well thats fine i can use that right now!

Most of it is a mini forest so my molly fry are enjoying this so much! They are getting so big!

Nice! I have that same tank and it frustrates me with all the condensation that runs down the sides whenever I raise the hood.

But the shape is neat.

This is the bulb I use

Cheaper than petsmart or petco!

I do like this tank but I can't fill it up all the way as the top rim leaks. It's okay though, it prevents the jumping issue with my fish.

The Molly babies are zooming around and playing in the plants it's so cute.

Yeah, mine seeps water too if I get it too high.

It's an ok tank, and cheap, just a few problems.

I am having BAD luck with the florescent bulbs that replace the incandescent. I have tried 2 brands and both give off a bad odor when I use them in aquarium hoods.

Have you noticed a bad odor with that bulb? Even if you are close?

Nice update on your babies btw :D they are so cute hanging out at the top :D

Edited to add: How long have you been using the bulb? I read the reviews on walmarts website and they were a mixed bag of ok-ness, with a handful of unhappiness. Another question is does that tank seperate the light from the water with a piece of glass? or can tank condensation come in contact with the bulb?
