Hello from new member with first betta

Hello everyone!

I just got my very first betta fish yesterday! I named him Crumpet and I love him already. (I think it is a male; please correct me if I'm wrong.) What kind of betta do you think he is?

I'm glad I found this forum so that I was able to set up a nice home for him before I got him. I love looking at everyone's pictures!

Christine

Hi and welcome!! He has a wonderful home and he's gorgeous! Was his belly that big when you brought him home? Or did you feed him a lot of food?

Thank you! Yes, his belly looked like that when I brought him home. These photos were taken before he'd ever been fed in my tank. Also, the local store where I got him said that he hadn't been fed yet that day. Do you think he is ok?

I'm not an expert, but for the tail type either he is a plakat or a roundtail.

He looks a bit chubby!! Nothing to worry about at the moment, I would fast him for a few days until it goes down. They might have overfed him and he got bloat. A lot of people over feed bettas because bettas will eat and eat and eat!! lol (you'll soon know the supper dance!)

YW :D
He's a really nice fish! And your tank is amazing! He'll get lots of exercise exploring that tank, so the bloat will go down in a day or two.
It's hard not to become attached to our little bubbly friends isn't it?!?

Thank you both! Yes, he's been very active today! He's exploring the entire tank.
