Question 'Enhanced' Betta Pictures

While browsing through AB I found this amazing colored boy:
http://www.aquabid.com/cgi-bin/aucti...shm&1339770415

But after looking a bit closer I can't help but feel like something is just off about it, especially since the really light blue literally hurts my eyes.

Is this picture messed with? Also, how can I tell the difference between enhanced colors and normal colors?

If you look at the darker edges of fins it looks granulated almost...I would say yeah thats been tampered with. Which is so sad at times

A lot of aquabid photos are messed with. Realizing that upset me. But yea no fish is that vibrant in real life. xD

it's been tampered with, the color balance has been shifted towards a bluer hue. if you look closely, the background is also tinted blue

I did a simple thing where I saved down a copy of the picture. I then opened that pic and used the "auto correct" edit feature. This "corrected" the blue tinted background to almost white, and did change the looks of the fish to a slightly less vibrant blue.

*sigh* I knew I had my hopes up. Thanks guys. Isn't it kind of shady for people to mess with the colors? D:
