We've got a jumper...

One of my females gets pretty fiesty and bailed out of the photo tank then flopped from the counter to the floor before I could catch her. Definetly going to find some sort of clear lid for the photo tank

Anyway, I put some ES in her container and will do that for a few days. Is there anything else I can do for her?

my guy jumped yesterday, i was out of the house for three hours and he had landed in my shag carpet so he was almost dry when i found him. but hes perfectly fine today :) since bettas breathe air, they can survive out of water much longer than other fish

I don't think she needs the epsom salts, (I could be wrong though) I think that is mainly for constipation?

Sorry she decided to fly out of the photography tank though. Every time I think of jumping fish I think of a PBS commercial with a goldfish that has an adventure ending up in a stream with trout at the end lol.

What are you using for a photography tank?

I have a million things around my house but I haven't come across anything yet that I can take really good pictures in. The acrylic tanks I have scratch if I rub the camera lense housing on them. Most of the glass things I have don't allow good views of the fish.

I gave her epsom salt for the injury because there was a bit of blood in my hand when I picked her up. She seems OK this morning but I'm sure it still hurts. She landed on slate tile...
I got an acrylic betta cube for the photos but I am not happy with the result. I like the pics I got from my glass aquarium better so I will have to get a very small glass tank just to make myself happy. The betta cube will make a good hospital tank though. I need to get a better light as well. I used a small desk lamp but it's so small it is too close to the top of the tank and creates a bad glare. I did find that I like more of a soft white (3500k)as opposed to the 65ooK light. I'd like to see what the GE Reveal lights do.

Those darn girls are a PITA to photo though. They will not sit still!

This silly filly jumped out again. This time she was in a Dixie cup floating around in her new home waiting for the temperature to equalize but she couldn't wait more than 5 minutes. There was about a 6 degree difference between the cup water and tank. This one goes in a BAG from now on!

Jump! Jump! My DH wanted to name our jumper after "the girl in the movie Jumper." But he couldn't remember her name so I said no. LOL.
