New betta!

He doesn't have a name yet. Can anyone tell if he's just a double tail betta or a halfmoon double tail betta?

LOL sorry there is no such thing as a delta double tail. ;P There is the traditional double tail and the halfmoon double tail. Yours looks to be a double tail but I'd need to see a flaring pic to confirm. It depends on the shape of the "lobes". :)

Thanks, konstargirl!

Im a total noob at telling the difference between bettas..haha. I literally started looking for one a couple days ago. If he really is just a double tail, then that's fine with me. I still love him! He was the one that caught my eye the most at Petco :) There was one that I had a worker put on hold for me at Petsmart, but when I went back, I was informed that he was already returned with the rest of the bettas..couldn't find him anymore so I guess someone else got to him already ;( My mind was sort of set on the one I have now though since I could see all his colors unlike the ones at Petsmart with their blue solution.

Also, how do you get them to flare? I'm just wondering, not saying I want to make him flare all the time if it's a bad thing/stressful on them. I don't wanna do anything to stress him out!

Your fish is loooovely. If you want him to flare you can hold up a mirror to him and he'll probably flare at it. I don't know about how long you should hold it to him... It can be stressful for bettas to flare too much.

Congrats on your new fishy:) He is a beauty!! If you let him flare, with a mirror, a few mins at a time, it's excersize, again a few min at a time, it's very cool to watch..and great time to take a pic..or as you get to bond with your fishy..they just do it out of exitement..ours does it as soon as it's feeding time, when we come to see him first thing in the morning..he flares and swims with such enthusiasm..and when I showed him a picture of another fishy..lol..it really works..he flared like wild..(guess he got jealous) of me looking at another fish!!
