I'm not kidding, I was like that proverbial bad doctor as I was contemplating betta surgery by tweezer "OMG, I NEED A STIFF DRINK BEFORE I TRY THIS!"

Happily, everyone has survived so far, except the nasties in the QT tank. And Chicory has been loving the betta log I got him by way of apology for A) Infecting his home with creepies and B) Attacking him with tweezers and clove oil.

I'm having problems seeing anything moving in his tank proper today. I think I'll do another close to 100% change come Friday (day before I leave on my big holiday!) and hope that the plants will be the only things left standing in there by the time I get back the Tuesday 10 days later. If it checks out clean, I'll bring him (and his log) back

Three weeks of Chicory's tank being not inhabited by Chicory did not seem to bother the (I'm fairly sure they were) nematodes in the least, much less starve them out. The Coppersafe was the answer. Dead nematodes, and it did not kill any plants, least not that I can tell at Coppersafe+1 week.

Chicory has been returned from his sojourn at my home and was apparently pleased to be back in his home - he had a bubble nest built within a few hours. I have noticed him spreading his fins for me more too - maybe it's easier/less weight with him having bitten off half of the top half of his tail while exiled in quarantine x_x It's healing nicely though, and I haven't seen him try to take any more bites out since he's back in his home sweet tank. And yes, he's been resting on his mossball a lot. It looks less lonely now!

Bottom line for me? Little white ickies = kill with fire and Coppersafe. Preferably before any latch on to fishie!
