20.
jk.
lol.

It really depends...not on the size of the tank, but more of the females themselves, and what you are willing to take on.

Stuff the tank! :p Can you post a picture of the tank set up? That would be cool.

Are you willing to have 4+ quarantine tanks? Trust me, you'll need them. Sometimes a female gets badly injured, sometimes a disease outbreak happens - all the more reason to quarantine before adding

When it's done I will :P It's going to have a huge makeover in a week or so, I want drift wood and going to try to make a clover carpet :)
Right now I'm building 8 and a half tanks (from 10 to 30g ) lol.. So I'll post a full display of all when its done :D

Actually I have alot more then 4... Ranging from 1g to 5g.. Don't really have a choice, I import 1960's and a few more bettas to my country :P So I always have space for around 100-150 fishes :P

Well 3 of my girls are rescues from bad places, 1 lost an eye and has severe case of ich(being treated right now) she got attacked in the "female betta tank".. 1 I took as a baby 5 weeks old with a cloudy eye, all healthy now :) the third one was in the Freshwater angel aquarium.. they did a nasty number on her fins(she was there for a few weeks).. all 3 of them show no signs of aggression..
I have another one that is just tiny and isn't aggressive.. The rest might be a different story, same goes for the girls that didn't arrive yet :P

Alright that is good hehe. So the question is... What can you handle? And can you handle a few (or more) manly femlaes who have to be kept separate? I mean I have about 5 together, just fine... I did have 9, but they became aggressive... In a 40! lol

at max the stock can reach 15-17(in theory) for a 30 gallon tank.

Well I have real housing for 4 rouges and summer housing for around 10 more, but I can double it by making it into a divided 5g each and not 10g..

In my 19g that was heavily planted I had 8 girls and a couple other fish. it was over stocked though and required a lot of maintenance.

In a 30g that is cleverly decorated and heavily planted I would say 10-14. You'll be more successful if you have a lot of floating plants, when I first started my sororty I left amazon swords and a bunch of other plants floating when they should be rooted, but girls loved it. Over time I started planting them on at a time.

Here's a vid that shows how crowded with plants the surface was at first.

Thanks for the answers so far everyone :)

What is considered a lot of maintenance?

Well about 1/3 of the plants are going to reach the surface, is that close enough? Or should I add some floating ones?

Btw love the butterfly fish, never seen one here..

well floating ones are a plus, as bettas like to hang around the top, they usually weave in and out through the floating plants. It makes them very happy. It also covers more line of sight between the bettas.
