Walmart Mess--a solution???

I have been disheartened with the care the bettas get at my local Walmart. Short of buying their bettas --- and I can only take care of so many!---What can be done?

In the short term, While we try to get Walmart out of the Betta business, I am trying to come to some interim solution.

I am proposing to one of my local Walmart stores as a trial that I will come in twice a week and do water changes/ checks/ and take in sick fish for rehab. When and if the sick fish recover, they will be returned to Walmart.

I do not know if this will be accepted or if this will even work. And I am asking for your opinions and suggestions on this plan.

It may not solve the problem, but it might start a interim solution.

PLEASE HELP ME WITH YOUR SUGGESTIONS!!

You could send the manager a complaint letter about how you feel.
Good thing my country doesn't have walmart.

Already did that. In fact, I emailed corporate! Manager called me and said that it would be taken care of and then thanked me. 1 week later ---- same deplorable conditions!

Keep complaining. Get others to complain. I used to WORK in Wal-Mart and I can tell you they don't give a flying rat about anything but their greedy corporation. KEEP PUSHING. Get others to push. Get people to BOYCOT. Start a petition against YOUR walmart. Do what it takes - legally.

I think your idea sounds great! Imagine if 100 people did the same thing. alot of fish would be saved for sure.

What does wal-mart advertise? Low cost, high quantity.

What do they aim for? A lot of sales.

What happens if said sales suddenly decreased? No use selling said sale item

I did the same with the pet store here - they get less bettas shipped in because there are less sales. Less bettas = all get homes. I re-directed people to Edmonton for betta fish and accessories.
