walmart has HUMONGOUS females right now...

I know this is a crappy pic, but seriously, look at the SIZE of her! That plastic cup is 4" across.

She was one of 4 or 5 of them this size. Most were dark with very little color.

They also had these two beauties...

yes,not black, but dark with just touches of color. One was turquoise with red fins. I saw one egg spot, but didn't check them all. I just feel sorry for them because they are not likely to be bought by the sorts that shop our W. They are HUGE. I don't know if they're just fully grown or some larger sort of Betta.

I honestly suspect that my husband's favorite, Finnie, is a very young male. Her belly is really bloated, though, so I don't know if that's hiding the egg spot. All of the other girls are SO easy to tell that they're female. I just think that Finnie has too much fin to be a young female.

scared FInnie, right after we brought her home.

She's really camera shy, so I can't get a good pic of her. Or her belly.

The walmart in Fairbanks, Alaska ocasionally had large females and I do mean large. I had 2 of them in my girls tank but sadly, they both were victiams of my columnaris outbreak.

Not the greatest pic but the one behind the yellow one was a little less then 3 inches and she was rather stout too. She was very mellow compared to the smaller ones. The other one was a bit smaller but was a very dark color.

I suspected something was wrong with her when these pics were taken last year as her scales looked off - like some were missing but I assumed it was from a skirmish with one of the other girls but none of them had ANY damage. I think it was the beginning of the columnaris like thing that killed her

I'm sorry you lost her. She's just exactly like the ones at our Walmart. If I wasn't already full up, I would have brought one home. LOL. They aren't as vibrant as the others, but there was something robust-looking about them.

I love the double tail on the third. I almost bought her instead of Boomer a few weeks ago, but I liked Boomer's red fins.

The spade tail is amazingly healthy when you consider she's been there for at least 3 weeks now.

I went to walmart yesterday for water conditioner and they had a few male bettas in cups with literally 1 inch of water and 3 inches of air. No the cups were not leaking, some idiot filled them like that :(

Does your walmart keep most of their bettas not in cups??
