Help, tiny white things crawling along the glass!!!

I did a water change a few days ago, and today I noticed that there are TINY white string-looking-things crawling along the sides of the tank! They probably aren't any longer than 1/8 of an inch. What are they? Are they harmful!? When I did the water change, I did scrape algae off afterwards, so it was released into the new water. Was that wrong? I also added a new fake plant.

They aren't harmful. They come from un eaten food.

I did do a lot of re-arranging yesterday, and stirred up a lot of stuff. Thank you! I was about to do another water change and scrub them all off!

editing to add that they are MUCH smaller than 1/8 of an inch. They look like little worms, and some are floating at the surface. They crawl fast too.

Try siphoning the gravel out good. If you want you can even fast your betta for a few days just so the worms ( Planaria) won't have any food and die off.

Yeah, I've kinda been slacking on siphoning. oops! Just as long as they're not harmful and don't have to be removed right away! I'm introducing a new male (divided tank), and surely the new one wouldn't mind being fasted as well?

Nah you don't need to fast them if you don't want to. If anything the bettas will feast on the little critters. :P
