aquarium salt is you choice.i use it but rarely.especially with my girl.i only use it in sign of stress.even then i use very little.for now i would just stick with what you are doing since it is working.
ill try to see if any of the ones i know who could help is on rite now.1 person is Oldfishlady..i know there are others.but ive seen her post and havent seen the other pros yet.oh well i know omeone ele who might be able to help.ill see if he is on.
i just read on another site.this is what the post was and what someone said about it..
"My betta seems to look like
his fins are all black and
shriveled...help, what the
heck is this and what do I do? "
the response to it is
"check the water parameters.
start changing water
the burns are what happens when the ammonia/nitrites spike. it is
healing of the burns. the burns happened a few days ago. "
but i seen someone post below it and say it happened to a group of fish that didnt have bad water perimeters.now that i think about it.my fish had the samething.it was from ammonia.i would do a 25% water change
But we did a complete 100% water change just yesterday! I'm not sure... We can try, but we're not exactly sure how to do that. Do we remove the fish from the tank, then take out the 20% and add it fresh, then wait a half hour to put him back in?
I am in the process of treating for mild case of fin rot, and that closed up, like glued together tail, and it's from being confined to a small space with no swim room, as I was treating our lil guy..he opened his fins, I have been using AQ salt, and it's made a major improvement..look at the pix in my album, of Sapphire my rescue!! and you can easily see the color coming out, and his fins are opening up:) So I think that might be what your lil fishy needs a hospital tank with 3-4 days or AQ salt treatment.

Okay, thank you so much! We have a hospital tank that just became out of use since our patient died [He was already too far gone when we got him from a friend, though..] And we'll try that. Can we get AQ salts at Walmart? Also, how big would you suggest a hospital tank to be?
