how long to seed a sponge filter?

Am going to be setting up a breeding tank, so I bought a sponge filter. How long should I run it in an established aquarium before moving it over?

I recommend running it for 3-4 weeks at least. My was running for months considering I got it way before I bred :)

I just cycled a couple of sponge filters. Seemed to take about 10 days with really potent bacteria.

Cool

Just tossed them in and turned them on. No seeding...
