Hello There, let me introduce my self~
i'm Surya from jakarta~
i just bought 4 bettas two weeks ago~
1 male crowntail, 1 male doubletail, 1 female doubletail, and 1 female halfmoon~

to be honest, i'm not very good in english, so i really appreciate if someone will correct me if i'm wrong~

by the way, i've a problem, my girlfriend betta got anchor worm @ his tail~
she named him vitaly, an orange crowntail betta~
what should i do to remove the anchor worm?
i worry if i remove it with hand, the tail will be broken~

Welcome to the forum. Sorry to hear that your girlfriend's betta has a nasty anchor worm. She can try a salt dip but if that doesn't work, some anti parasite meds might have to be used. The head of the worm can be buried pretty deeply into the fish so removing it with tweezers could do more damage to the fish :(

Hi Surya, welcome to the forum.

Anchor worms will most probably kill goldfish if you pull them out..... imagine what they'll do to a betta.

As Byron said, you could use chemical meds (ask the shop keeper) or ..... take the fish out of the water and bury the worm in salt (be extra careful that the salt doesn't get into the gill area) - this is how I get them out of goldfish but I've never had bettas with anchor worms. Keep in mind that this could cause more harm than good because bettas are very small to handle and things could easily go wrong.

update news for my gf betta, i tweezed it up already :), with hand~
pheewww, i was nervous when i catch Vitaly, but luckily it's done, and none of his fin is broken, i think the AW still to small so it doesn't make him have a great wound and now he is healty n fat , she give him frozen bloodworm twice daily~ again, i'm lucky~

i have experiences in anchorworm with molly fish, i tweezed it up with hand gently and the molly is safe, but when i did it with guppy, the guppy can't make it~
vitaly is larger than molly fish, so i think it still safe to remove it with hand only~
but the problem, unlike molly, betta have beautiful fin, i affraid i'll make those fin broken~

sorry, i've done it before i see the replies~
but next time, i'll use salt for removing nasty AW in my betta's body~

i wanna ask, is it true that bloodworm can make betta's collour fade?
and how to make betta want to eat pellet?
my bettas only eat natural food like bloodworm, shrimp, or daphnia~
i ever gave them dried tubefix worm but none want to eat it :(~

I have never heard of BW fading betta colors. I mainly feed my betta BW, plus the occasional daphnia, mosq. larva, etc.... The problem with BW or tubifex (live) is that it contains too much fat and can make your betta too fat and cause problems.

One way to change diet is by fasting your betta/s for a few days.... You could either just fast them until they take the pellets or introduce the pellets with the BW but then siphon out after 5 minutes. After a few days of this, fast them until they take the pellets. But usually they will refuse pellets if one day you feed BW again .... at least mine do - I mean they will only eat what they favor and refuse anything else.

Take a small bit of fresh garlic, crush it and add it to a little tank water. Soak your betta pellets in it for 5-10 minutes or so and see if he'll eat them then.

I would start by fasting him for a few days first. It sounds like he's getting spoiled with those worms and shrimp. Feed the pellets as his main diet and give bloodworms, brine shrimp etc. only once or twice a week in place of pellets.

And if you're going to feed freeze dried foods, soak them in a little tank water first to rehydrate them.
