Number of females a 29 gallon can hold

How many betta females can I safely put into a 29 gallon? I have 4.

You want way more than that, you could safely add like 20 if you wanted too. Remember, the more females that are in there, the more the aggression is spread out. LBF had I think like 12 girls in a 10 gallon tank and all went well. Her recommendation is overstocking a sorority is much better than understocking. So yeah get way more.

With girls you can mix and match, just get whatever girl catches your heart. It won't change much. Unless you get one of those uppity crowntail girls who thinks she's better then all the vail tails. In which case, you take away her leaf hammock til she changes her attitude!

I've got 6 right now in my 29, have one girl in QT, she started to get a bit of fuzz. I am thinking of having a dozen girls, adding one or two at a time as I find interesting/appealing ones.

I'm unsure of having anything else in there, like shoal of cories.

I have a 25 gallon with I think 20 something? females in there. I removed a couple (one for breeding and one who didn't like the sorority environment) and had one of my oldies die recently, but other than that everyone does fine.

If you know what you are doing and keep on top of managing aggression and water quality you could have between 15-20 odd females in there and they should do fine.

If you are less confident, want to be more conservative or have other fish in there as well, a good number would be 10 or so. Different tail types really don't matter. It's generally the females you wouldn't think that tend to be the aggressors in sororities. I have HMs, HMPKs, CTs and giants in my sorority and never had any issues because of it.
