dont put polysporin on it or anything of that sort. the best thing i know is to kept the bowl at that temp or even 78 if u can and keep doing water changes so that the water is super clean so he can heal. i hope someone with more experience comes along for more suggestions because aquarium salt may help but not sure so i wouldnt do it unless told by someone with better knowledge

Er well, I would get some aquarium salt. Premix in the salt 1tsp/gal, and do daily water changes.

Edit: the bowl you've got him in is hard to heat, but try to bump the temp to 78. Also, if yuv got some IAL, that would be helpful.

You might want to move your fish to a more quiet place. She'll heal better if you keep her stress levels down.

Others have all made the best suggestions that I can think of. Your only other recourse is to possibly treat her with some antibiotic fish meds...but I'd only do that if nothing else worked. From what I understand, meds can be very hard on them, and can actually make it worse. I'd PM OldFishLady and see if she can help you. :) I contacted her yesterday about some concerns I had with one of my boys and she was incredibly helpful and so very, very nice. She is the one who told me about the meds being more harm than good, and I'd bet she can help you out a lot. :)
Good luck to you, and I hope your girl gets better! I'll be pulling for her! :)

I prefer homeopathic remedies versus medicines, even in real life. That's why i suggest salt before moving onto medicines. :)

Was there anything in her bowl that could have caused the wound or is it from a disease? I agree with keeping her in a quiet place with AQ salt in her water. Keep the water clean and hopefully she'll get better. Good luck.

Since IAL isn't something most newbies have laying around, some dried washed Oak leaves floating in the tank also release soothing tannins!
