Should I Euthanize?

My baby hasn't eaten in six days after suffering from what looked like a severe head injury. He doesn't swim except to get air, and lays lifeless on the bottom the rest of the time. There have been no signs of improvement. I don't want him to have to lay there and suffer. What is the right thing to do?

Here is the thread I posted the day of the injury and have updated since: http://www.tropicalfishkeeping.com/b...injury-104842/

No! There's always a chance. Lower his water level so he doesn't have to exert so much energy. Put him in a quiet and dark place so he's not startled. Soak his food in garlic juice (it entices them to eat). Use a stress coat if you're not already. Prayer to whatever deity/ies you believe in wouldn't hurt.

There are plenty of threads where people think that their fish will die, but give them a chance and they heal!

We've been doing all of those things with no signs of improvement.
He shows no interest in food and sleeps constantly except for breathing occasionally..

Maybe he just needs to rest. After head injuries, even humans sleep to regain their energy.

I wish that I could be more hopeful, but it's just hard watching him decline...

Has his wound improved, at least? Even in the slightest?

The swelling went down, and it's sort of this whitish gray spot.

Is it cottony? It might just be scar tissue. Healing is a VERY good sign. It means that his body is still working. Old people don't heal well before they die because their bodies are giving up. (Bad example, but it's the best I could think of)

It's hard to tell, and I don't want to disturb him with the light.
I'd just feel so much better if he would swim or eat.

I understand. It would be better just to let him rest. Offer him food every couple of hours, but fish it out if he doesn't eat after a few minutes. Do you add salt to the tank? Is he bloated? Has he been pooping? How often do you do water changes?
