Question 3g Half Moon Tank

I plan on getting a 3g mini half moon tank, and was wondering about the heating and filtration. I am definitely going to get a heater, but do not want there to be too much current for the betta. Is there any type of filter which would be okay? What water maintenance would I have to do without a filter? With a filter? Thanks in advance for the help

It's hard to cycle a 3G so you'd be looking at 2 changes a week -- one 50% and one 100%. With any filter, you'd likely baffle it (attach a sponge) to reduce the current. Heater-wise, I can't recommend a specific one, but you'll want to keep the water at 76* to 82* to keep your fish comfortable. :)

Thank you. (: We already have to do twice weekly maintenance with the goldfish (so messy!) So, I'll just do it on those days to keep in the habit. I read they make micro heaters or something like that, so I'm hoping there will be a decent selection at Petsmart.

I don't know what a micro-heater is. But a few more dollars for an adjustable heater is money well-spent. Don't forget a thermometer (and don't forget to check it).

A 3 gal tank can be cycled. It cuts your water changes in half and, more importantly, keeps your ammonia at 0.0ppm all the time.
