Need some help with this one...

Hey folks. I recently got my girlfriend into keeping bettas. She picked out her first one about a week ago and thus far she's taken very good care of it. The problem is when she feeds him, he goes after the food but he can't seem to get it in his mouth. I've seen bettas take food and spit it, but this is different. It's like he physically can't eat it for some reason. Anyone ever see this before or have any suggestions? The food is Omega One betta buffet pellets and my betta still eats the hell out of them like there's no tomorrow. Poor guy's gotta be starving...

They may be too large for the fish's mouth...I've had that happen on occasion. Try crushing them into smaller pieces and see if that helps.

+1 try crushing them and if he still can't eat them he may have something stuck in his throat. unfortunately I have no idea how to fix that one...

Hilkari Bio-Gold makes a baby pellet thats tiny maybe he would have better luck with that...Good luck ! The New Life Spectrum is also very tiny.
