My poor Jack died this morning. He fought hard to make it through, but I think it was for the best. Rest in peace my fishy friend. Know that you were well loved.

Thank you Sakura. My mom and I dug a hole in the back yard and gave him a proper burial and just cried. I think she loved him just as much as I did. This was definitely a learning experience and if I do decide to get another fish I'll know better how to take care of him. Thank you for all of your hep with Jack. I am just glad he is not in pain and suffering anymore.

I was also going to ask if it will be okay to use the tank I kept Jack in for a new fish as long as I clean everything well? I heard that you should clean everything with white vinegar. Does that go the same with the decorations as well? I will probably throw away the gravel and get some new gravel for sure, but I'd like to salvage the tank if I can.

Yes, you can use the same tank and decor. Hot, almost scalding water and vinegar works well to sterilize, as does leaving it to sun dry.

I hope you do get another fish. :)
