What are your goals? What males do you have (sorry, short memory - I know you've posted them somewhere).

The second female is currently half giant size (6cm) - Do you have a male that big? She has good 4 rays but is still too traditional. When buying giants - ask for age. 4 months means she has growing ahead of her. But 6 months means not much growing.

The last one is a wild type - not a splenden..... in case you didn't know.

Things I look for in females:
1. pointy edged caudal (optional, depending on male)
2. minimum 4 ray (must)
3. Big/long dorsal, up right or fan like appearance (must)
4. balanced according to type/classification
5. big end body (where caudal grows) (optional)
6. Overall appearance.

I may over look some points (except 4 ray minimum) if the male compliments them.

This is my list of males:
- 3 HM dragons. All well balanced.
- 1 HMPK yellow dragon
- 1 Giant HMPK
- 1 marble HMDbT
- 1 metallic HMPK
- 1 green HMPK with orange fins.
I also have one that is blue, black, and cellophane. Very young when I got him and still growing though he is looking more and more like a HM

The regulars seems to have unequal and few branching. Look for others that have better branching.

But the giant looks ok though .... not sure about over priced or not .... She has long dorsal (DT geno) and it seems to open fan like. Her caudal is round but she has 4 rays. If the male is a better form, he should compliment her...... her age isn't mentioned. Best ask them if you want a true giant. But if you don't mind a half giant, she is good enough.

I'll ask them first. I'd rather a giant, but will take a half giant to start with. Uther, my giant, has a nice cadual. Don't get to see it at it's full beauty too often as he doesn't really flare.

That's the problem with giants, they become sluggish and lazy when they're older and bigger. You may have to artificially hatch his spawn because he may not care for them.

I didn't know that. I know he interacts with me with quite a bit of pep. He just doesn't flare. He flared once for me when I was floating him with my Leonidas as I set up his 10 gal.

My half giants flare like crazy against other half giants. They sometimes ignore the smaller regulars. But NONE will care for eggs. When not flaring, they hardly move......

still learning about these guys. I know they can't eat tubifex as it makes them more lazy. Mosquito larva seems to be best, specially when they have to chase it. Water pumps helps keep them active. But i don't have pumps on all my tanks.

Uther really likes mosquito larvae and blood worms. I've noticed that he also lets his NLS pellets start sinking and then chases after them. He's always swimming about, especially when I'm near his tank. It's divided in half between him and a HMPK male. Sometimes I find them shadowing each other along the divider.
