Betta with No Tail!

Ok, I went to petco yesterday looking to buy one betta, and came home with two.

One is going to be a breeder and the other one was a pity purcase.

I was looking at the baby bettas, and what do you know, one has no tail, it looks almost as if it was cut off in a shipping accident! *gags at horrible betta fish care*

So my question is:
how do I care for this guy, and will his tail ever grow fully back?

I will upload pictures if I can find the cable for the camera

Hello and welcome to the forum. I am sorry to hear your betta isnt feeling well :(

Some AQ salt (about 1 tbs. per gallon), warm water, and very frequent water changes should do the trick.

Keep us updated, and hope everything goes well!

My betta (the one in my avi) tore his fin badly on a decoration(which was removed) and split his caudal fin and i used this form of treatment. His fin healed almost completely within a week(not as beautiful as before, but healthy). The salt prevents fin rot and helps in the healing process of the fin, so overall, my answer, is yes it will help him 99% if done properly :)

I recommend that you only use 1 Teaspoon per gallon not Tablespoon as listed above.

It doesn't look as though it was born without one, it looks sliced off
