It depends on what size your tank is. How many gallons is it?

Depends on tank size:

A typical, 1 gallon fish bowl: Twice a week, 50% then 100%

2.5 gallon HEATED and FILTERED: Once a week

5 gallon HEATED and FILTERED: Once a week

10 gallon HEATED and FILTERED:Once a week



Although others will suggest longer periods of time, i like to keep the healthiest and cleanest aquarium i can have. :)

and make sure your once a week changes are all 100%
A filtered 5gal+ can be cycled too :)

And you do know you don't buy ick? Ick is a fungus, you would need something to clear up the ick.

As far as the tank cleaning I would do 100% & a 50%, but make sure you do the 100%. Unfiltered small tanks can lead to very high ammonia levels since they are so small.
