Need Some Help Identifying...

First fish: Is this marble, or is it not because it's mainly on the fins?

Second fish: What in the world would you call this color?
Is the green on him dragon scale?
What's with the shape of his dorsal fin? There's no signs of injury. What genes make fins like this?

I'm no expert at classifying bettas but I've seen a lot of bettas on aquabid that say they are marbled who look like your top one. The green and red guy looks like a butterfly delta tail to me. Hopefully a breeder will visit this post and correct me if I'm wrong ;)

Your top fish could be marbled but also a lot of the time people get bettas that look like that at first then they end up with a blue betta months later.

Your first fish looks so much like my Epsilon (fish in my avi)! He might be a marble, but you'll have to wait to see if he changes color to find out. :) As for your second fish, the green on him isn't dragonscale but he does have a pretty butterfly pattern!

If I shine a light on him, his fins turn blue. Otherwise, they're a dirty white.

A Butterfly Betta's fins are half clear white and half another color.

When I got him, he looked like that, but when I put him in his new water the tips of his fins began to turn green, so he's not butterfly.

The first picture is from the night I got him. His fins are clear. The second (you can't see the tips very well) his fins are green.

Actually not all butterflies have the clear white. But to be a butterfly, all fins must have the defined color of their body on their fins, edged with another color such as white, cellophone, etc =D

First one might be a marble, which I've had one that was white wash, turned salmon pink, turned silvery white, turned silvery blue lol. I've had a cellophone male as well, who had some irridescence in his fins.
