How many rays does a VT have?

I just notice that my newest guy... who Ive named toothbrush "Yashua" has tertiary rays. I used to think VTs only had secondary rays. Am I mistaken? or is this just some kind of deformity? He definitely owns the most ragged tail ive ever seen...

He looks like a crowntail mixed with another tail type.

Looks like a chewed up tail or a bad gene pool.
Could be a delta.
Watch those black edges closely, he might have fin rot.

VT's fins are longer on the bottom.. Can't remember the name of the fin. Your fish is a mutt fish <3

Ooooh a mutt! lol. how exciting. this is what you get buying from a Chinese aquarium in a grocery store I guess. lol. I'm pretty sure his tail is just prechewed or recovering from rot. I am watching that area like a hawk though :) but all in at it seems to just be frayed ends with some signs of regrowth and not black edges or yucky stuff. :) thanks for worrying

No he's nice :) I meant anal fin, the one on bottom. VT's aren't straight and short like that so I doubt that one has been nommed/rot. :) With a couple weeks he'll be in the sure spin of things! Congrats^-^

T_T Sorry my bad habit of being lazy and replying to different people in the same post. I certainly do love toothbrush, he's cute in hiw own way. I've yet to teach him to jump for food and stuff, but I'm sure he'll learn in the two weeks I'm here.

The anal is also recovering :) it's rimmed with some. clear regrowth that o
isn't showing up very well :D atleast it's not rotting, lol
