How many?

I have a question, how many jars do you need for the Males and aggressive Females? I heard that a small spawn has 100 Fry? O.O So how many do I need? And where can I get so many Jars for a cheap price? You know, like $1 for 3?

I would check craigslist or thrift stores. Mason jars I've heard go over well so I'd maybe look for those.

I usually approximate how many fry I have and the number of spawn of the female. First time is usually 60% male, 90% male if the temp is extra high. Second time is about 40 - 50% male and the third spawn is about 30% male. 4th and more spawn is about less than 30% (sometimes only 10%).

I constantly collect 2ltr plastic bottles - used to cut them in half, but now I cut at the top to avoid jumping.

Oh... I guess I need to drink a lot from plastic bottles then.

that would work! just ask people around your neighborhood for bottles. I've heard 2L pop bottles make good "jars"

Yeah. I'd plan for somewhere around 50 to start with. If you need more you can always go around asking again

Start with 50 but keep collecting (if you have a place to store them). After a few years of cleaning, these bottles will become blurry. I replace these with new bottles.
