Okay, so I go into Petsupplies Plus today to get some sponge and a vac for my tanks. I get the items, go to check out, and there is this poor betta in a fluted wine glass thing...needless to say I was not happy. So I said out loud "to the fish", "hey, you poor guy, you need a bigger tank huh?, and your water is filthy"..the cashier starts in on the, "they can live in even smaller containers than that" I just gave her the worst look as she continued,..." in the wild they live in puddles"!!! I told her, "They only end up in puddles during the drought, and hope to survive until the next rain when they can escape the puddle. I'm sure YOU could survive in a closet if I just threw you some food a couple times a day, but I'm sure you wouldn't be happy, especially if I made you pee and poo in there"...The cashier was rolling her eyes at this point, and practically threw my receipt at me, as hubby had me by the hand heading for the door. Ohmygosh...I can NOT bear this! I see an email to corporate being sent tomorrow...grrrrrrrr.

That was very rude of the cashier. She should definitely be reported about, and yes go to the head board >:(

Sure it was rude of the cashier, and you are in the right, but people really don't like being told what to do. They immediately go on the defensive. If she didn't seem receptive and isn't willing to do a bit of learning on her own, nothing will change her mind. She's a lost cause. Try to keep things a little more polite in the future when you have to deal with folks like that.

Naahh...People like that deserve all the #^&^%$#$ we can throw at them in lieu of being strung up or worse.

It always makes me feel better to figuratively slap 'em around a little.

I was not raising my voice, but was making eye contact with her, and trying to make a point about her ignorance. I try to never be rude, but when I see injustice in any form I do get a bit riled. Justified in this case I think.

I just don't understand how people can think a living animal is a decoration.

If you're going to keep an animal, why do the bare minimum for it? Sure they can live in smaller containers, but why not give them something big and see how they blossom?

Thanks everyone for responding...I so want to bring him home...but hubby just got laid off, and I'm not sure how I would convince him we need another fish and tank. I just added my second betta to our household...and yeah, it is breaking my heart thinking of that poor little guy in the glass..sigh
