Question Male or Female??

Okay so my friend has this betta and we were going to breed it to my male and we waited until he had a bubblenest and released it. She or he was very aggressive with my betta and started tearing at his tail and ripping i then got scared and removed the male so i'm unsure now. I don't know if it's just a very mean female or a male??

You don't just throw in a male and female together and hope for the best. You need to wait until the female is ready to spawn. This means that she has a belly full of eggs ready to be released. Also, you need to introduce them just right, making sure the male can see the female and sense that she is ready to spawn, without them actually being able to get at each other.

Also, the size of the tank is a major factor. I would have a ten gallon for spawning and a 20 or 30 gallon as a grow out tank.

We did do that all of it and I have everything for it and I just had a successful spawn so far. So I just wanted to know of it was a true female or a mistake...
